Incoming links count or panel incorrect

The incoming links count, when you delete a page, does not match the number of pages shown in the Incoming links panel in Page Info.

The discrepancy is quite large. See attached.

Is there a way to better check whether the page Info panel is reliable or not? We rely on this when deleting pages.
