Add colspan functionality to simple table markup

      It might be nice to have the possibility to use colspan in the wiki markup for table creation.
      Example:

      Header 1 Header 2 Header3
      Something <---- This would rmake the cell take the whole row

      (See CONF-1985 for a possible alternative markup)

      Hi All,
      Thank you for your patience with this issue.

      We are pleased to advise that we do have this planned in our short term roadmap and have commenced working on it. We hope to have this feature in Confluence 4.0. We don't have any dates yet but we are hoping to have something later this year. We will update this issue as soon as we have made further progress.

            Comment [ There has been a lot of requests over the years for a simple markup for colspan/rowspan. It is so clear that Atlassian DOES NOT WANT TO listen to their users. Sigh! Just adding it to a button misses the mark on understanding user ask! So is there a way to do colspan/rowspan using wiki markup or not? ]
