Field labels in the Insert/Edit Link dialog Web Link section are confusing

    • We collect Confluence feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

The two fields in the Insert link and Edit link dialog under Web link are labeled "Address" and "Link text". The second label with the word "Link" is misleading. People who just scan screens (most!) will see the word "Link" and think that's where the URL goes.

Also, it is more common to have the text/label first, and the address/URL second. Because of these two things, I always have to pause and think when I come to this dialog (and I use it a lot!).

      I recommend:

      1. Swap the order (URL field is second)
      2. Add placeholder text to the URL field, e.g. "http://www.example.com"
      3. Change the labels so there's no ambiguity. Either of these is better:
      • Text to display
      • Address
        or
      • Text
      • Link

I've attached a mock-up of how this could look.

      Thanks for listening!
