When trying to insert an anchor link with special characters in Confluence, using the Insert Link function, the link doesn't work, you can't click on it.
My customer was using Confluence 5.7.1 and I was able to reproduce the same problem on a local instance of 5.4.1.
We could identify the issue with two characters: En dash (–) and Single quote ('), but it might also be happening with other ones too.
I've identified that the same issue existed a few years ago, and should be resolved, but I see it's happening again, so we have a regression.
A suggested workaround is to remove these special characters from pages, but in this situation, the customer was trying to link to pages from CAC (confluence.atlassian.com), which he can't edit.
He was creating a "What's new" page to detail the new functions of Confluence 5.7.1 for his users.
The problem occured in the following two URL's:
https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CONF57/Supported+Platforms#SupportedPlatforms-Webbrowsers–desktop
https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Confluence+5.7+Release+Notes#Confluence5.7ReleaseNotes-Simplifyyourteam'sfeedbackloop
In the first link, I replaced the En dash with an hyphen and it worked. Also, I removed the Simple quote on the second link, and it also worked.
