    • We collect Confluence feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

Example: into the search mask, enter parts of a word which occurs in pages. No result found.

Work-around: Add wild char to the end.

User is unhappy with this answer because this tool behavior is not state of the art. Google search is much smarter.

Related observation: the help screen says that multiple * or * at the beginning would work, but when starting a search term with a *, nothing is found.

          Form Name

[CONFSERVER-36770] Search results are unsatisfying - no google-style search provided

As a Confluence Server based wiki grows the search function slowly turns to useless.
A lot of results, almost none relevant.

It does not even find pages that have the exact search string as the page title!
And adding keywords to the pages does not help either.
            This is ridicolous.

Worst thing in all of this - this seems to be going on since 2015 - nothing has happened since.

Look, guys down under - this will not motivate me to move my Confluence instances to cloud.
            Forget features, deliver quality.

Shareholder value will not keep this alive - customers will.

We are getting a lot of feedback on the poor search functionality in Confluence currently from our development teams. Returns way too many hits with stuff that is not relevant. Does not prioritize returned items based on usage, etc. Spending way too much time to find the one page they need - normally end up having to find the correct person to provide them with the url for the page they need.

            Bump

A lot of pages have been created since Confluence was introduced at our company and it starts to feel like that it's getting harder and harder to find the pages you are looking for.
I have to admit, part of the problem is also that our page structure is not perfect and is in need for some improvement.

But a great search would really help us out finding pages that we are looking for.

To sort of migitate the problem I sometimes just end up starring pages and hope that I'll find them later again that way.

Bump to improve the search functionality. If Microsoft can improve the outlook search function (which they did recently) Atlassian can fix the confluence search.

Bump.. I've been using Confluence for >7 years and it's sad to see that search has not improved in all that time. You would expect this to be high on Atlassian's list of priorities, since search has been a solved problem for years and is a critical user feature taken for granted across all modern software services (e.g. Evernote search is 1000 times better - much less developer resources behind it and it's not a business critical application such as this). It's not encouraging to see Atlassian reps advising use of external plugins for something that the product should provide as a matter of course (Confluence search function complaints (atlassian.com))

When I search "What is on production" or "Whats on production" it won't find the popular article "What's on production"

This is agonizing. Confluence's search is nearly useless.

another example. Imagine some pages contain the script name "myscript.bat".

When searching for "myscript" , no search results are found. User needs to type either "myscript*" or "myscript.bat".
Why does "myscript" not find the exact match? Seems none-alphanumeric characters are not necessarily treated as word boundaries.
