Profile picture area selection does nothing unless the resize drag stops on the picture itself

• visit: /users/editmyprofilepicture.action
• click Choose file and choose a 325x325 sized image
• click upload.
• select the entire picture:
• drag the initial square to the upper left corner
• drag the bottom right corner of the square to fill up
• stop dragging outside the bottom right corner of the picture area, not inside of the picture.

Outcome: the preview shows the entire picture, but only the upper left corner (initial drag) is used.

Expected outcome: the entire picture shows.
