Show a more user friendly node identifier in Confluence Data Center.

This has been raised as a bug rather than an improvement since it is a jarring difference between Confluence Data Center and JIRA Data Center.

We should allow an admin to configure on each node a more acceptable identifier to be shown in the UI of each node, for diagnostic purposes. We currently show a small hash code in the footer.

            The ressource name is confluence.cluster.node.name
But I guess you figured this out since last year.

I added this parameter in setenv.sh so my jvm startup with an additional -Dcluster.node.name=confluenceapp_clus_node1 .... I still don't see this name getting reflected in the footer or under Node ID in Clustering menu. Any comments?

We need somewhere to document this new 'confluence.cluster.node.name' system property for Data Center and to explain it's usefulness e.g. a human readable node identifier in the footer and in e-mail notifications.

            Any thoughts rrobins ?

We set it in cluster.properties file which is in jirahome

Note, we should also ensure the "friendly" node id is included in e-mail footers (related to CONFDEV-28994).

Thanks tcampbell. How is this node id specified though? System properties, config entry, etc?

I believe JIRA already do something similar to this. Any more details Trevor Campbell [Atlassian]?

Yes we show it just as part of the version sttring as you can see in the footer of this page on JAC. v6.4-m09#64005-sha1:a6d51a0:node1
