I have now encountered this 3 times in editing a page and trying to paste a table from an older version of confluence.
Repro steps:
1. Edit the page.
2. Insert headining 2 using h2. macro
3. Paste a table
4. Try to save
I get this error:
The following error(s) occurred:
The editor content could not be parsed. There is a problem at line 1, column 205992. Parser message: Unexpected character '=' (code 61) (expected a name start character) at [row, col
{unknown-source}]: [1,205992]
It won't allow me to save the page OR undo my paste!!! So, I lost my previously inserted content (which I hadn't saved) just because of one paste!!
In this day and age, its atrocious that any editor should lose content typed by user because it cannot parse something??!!!! Really? Can you imagine how a user would feel if your software loses their many hours of work simply because you can't parse a cut and paste???
As it happens, I didn't lose a lot of work but I have to tell you, I really got annoyed a lot. A horrible, horrible user experience. If this were to happen during my evaluation of this software, I assure you it would be pretty much a deal breaker. No software should EVER lose a user's content let alone a content management system!
