Recover Space Permissions feature in Confluence is broken

XMLWordPrintable

NOTE: This bug report is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding bug report.

A user with Confluence Administrator permission (not member of confluence-administrator group) should be able to go to Confluence Admin > Space Permissions > Recover Permissions and be added as a space admin for that space. (Originally fixed here https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-27896)

      Steps to reproduce:

      1. Log in as sysadmin and create a space
      2. Restrict this space to yourself only
      3. Log in as a user with Confluence Admin permission (not a member of the confluence-administrators group)
      4. Go to General Configuration > Space Permissions > Recover Permissions > Manage Permissions.

      Expected results:

      Space permission is fixed.

      Actual results:

Space permission is not recovered. Any page request in the space yields 'Page not Found'. Technically, this is because the recover feature grants the 'Admin' permission only. It should grant the 'View' permission too:
