We tried to display 100 1024x768 images (each about 1.2 MB in size) through the use of the gallery macro.

      We did the following:
      1. Attached the 100 1024x768-1.2MB images to a new page
      2. Edited the page and added the gallery macro to the page content
      3. Viewed the page to make sure the gallery macro was working
      4. Sent out an e-mail to the company telling everyone to come view the photos on the page

About 100 or so users instantly hit the page and the servers CPU started to hum along at 99% usage for about 15 minutes before we decided to pull the page down so that the other processes on the server could get CPU time.

90% of the cpu usage was coming from the java process. We also noticed an increase in the CPU usage of mysql.
