Confluence Link Macro should Catch Invalid Links Better

XMLWordPrintable

    • We collect Confluence feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

Confluence link macro only accept valid URI link and it is currently not possible to add non-standard protocols such as javascript as a link. When user try to insert such protocol into the link field, Confluence will accept the input but render the link as plaintext making it non click-able

      Possible Implementation

Confluence should be able to catch non-standard protocols and provide a meaningful error with workaround such as adding the link through HTML macro.
