If you have pages that contains Curly Quotes/Smarts Quotes (“”) in it's title and generate a xml backup you will observe that after importing the xmlbackup the Curly Quotes/Smarts Quotes will be converted to regular quotes.
That will cause any links to these pages to get broken, since the page title changed and hence redirect you to a creating page screen instead of the actual page.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Create two spaces called "Dummy Space" and "Testing the Link"
- Under Dummy create a child page:
“Curly Quotes”
Copy the above example because if you use regular quotes you will not see this behaviour.
- Now click in Tools > "Link to this Page"
- Copy the Link.
- Go Into the Testing Link space Home page and paste the link you copied.
Everything will work as expected.
- Go to Confluence Admin > Backup and Restore.
- Generate a Confluence XML Backup
- Still in the Backup and restore page restore the previously generated xml file.
- Go to The Testing the Link Home page.
- Now if you click in the link to "Curly Quotes" you will be redirected to a creation page instead of the “Curly Quotes” page.
- If you navigate to the page under the dummy space you will notice that it's contentid is the same however the title was converted from:
“Curly Quotes”
to
"Curly Quotes"
