Description
When trying to use Find and Replace to search for text modified by markup inside the Confluence editor, multiple browsers have issues searching. This bug affects Chrome (tested on 36.0.1985.125) and Firefox (tested on 30.0). I have tested this in 5.0.3 and 5.5.3.
Reproduction steps
- Create a new page
- Paste the following into the page
h3. Link This is a [link|#Link].
- Save the page
- Open the page for editing
- Bring up Find and Replace (CMD+F or Ctrl+F)
- Type 'a link' into the search field and press Enter
Expected behavior
After hitting enter, the editor would highlight the text if it exists. This behavior does work properly in Safari 7.0.5 (9537.77.4) and Internet Explorer 11.0.9600.17207.
Actual behavior
Firefox
After pressing Enter once it appears that nothing happens, no text is highlighted. If you continue to press Enter, the cursor will move into the main editor windows and new lines will be placed into the top of the document.
Chrome
After pressing Enter it appears that nothing happens, no text is highlighted. You can press Enter as many times as you would like, it never highlights text, but the editor does not have any other abnormal behavior.
Related Notes
- This does not affect Safari. Following the steps listed above will highlight the appropriate text.
- In my testing this did not affect IE 11. Following the steps listed above did highlight the appropriate text.
- This only affects text modified by markup. If you use the buttons in the editor to create the h3 and the link search will work.
