A link to the file system like file://D:\Temp\logo.gif is rendered as href="file://D:Templogo.gif". This worked fine with 1.3.x but not with 1.4.1.

            [CONFSERVER-3383] [file:// links break with \

            Mike,
This is a also major issue also for us given our widespread use of file:// links to manage dynamic documents such as Word and Excel.
We pick up the document name from the Web address bar in these apps.

This is really a workaround to the limitation of not being able to edit attachments in place in Confluence.
If we had access to edit documents in shared Web folders like Sharepoint does, that would save a lot of heartache.

            cheers,
            Peter

Mike, thanks for the feedback. Please consider that not only all old links have to be corrected but also all new ones: Unfortunately, Windows Explorer shows the path with \. That means that when you copy a path from Explorer, you need you replace everytime \ with / (arggg...)

            Hence, 2 questions:

            • Does anybody know, how to configure Explorer showing only / ?
            • Could Confluence automatically convert links with \ to /?

            Cheers,
            Marc

            Marc,

I've investigated this and I don't think we can fix it. The reason being that the URL you have provided isn't a valid file link, although the browser's support it. The real file link should be file:///c:/temp/myfile.gif - ie using / not \. These links work.

The workaround really is to correct your file links to work. I apologise that they worked previously with \, they probably shouldn't have!

            Cheers,
            Mike
