If you write a plugin with a macro definition which is used (ie has been stored in a page somewhere) and then need to change the macro key you are left with little options.

Macro aliases allow you to provide multiple aliases for your macro but these are only used for auto completion and macro browsing.

Macro aliases should also be used when marshalling macros from storage to view and edit.
