Atlassian has identified an issue in a 3rd-party library used in the Office Connector plugin which has been seen to cause a complete consumption of system resources when embedded into a page, leading to unresponsiveness and. In some cases the problematic file will fail to render in the macro and the logs will indicate an NPE when the file was being rendered.

This issue occurs due to certain conditions in the library, which are yet to be determined, leading the same file to even generate different responses in differing circumstances in the same instance. Sometimes the embedded file will not render and throw an NPE, in others it will consume all the available system resources. Atlassian is working with the vendor to resolve this issue and a fuller explanation of the causes of the issue will be made available once the vendor has completed their investigation.

Error likely to occur with sparse spreadsheets - ones that have a lot of cells, but majority of them empty
