We noticed that confluence will allow users to rename a attachement to something illeagal. I was unable to extract the full name as the page would not fully render with it there (i.e. the page operations panel would not display when the "show attachements" option was enabled) but it appeared the file name had a url in parenthesis after it. We were able to delte the page and recreate it for the user without any loss of data however I did want to submit a ticket to make sure this was resolved in later releases of Confluence. We dont need it fixed in the older version we are currently using in production.
