NOTE: This bug report is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding bug report.

Images inserted inside a cell of a standard table in Confluence are no longer rendering when exported to PDF. This was working recently, perhaps this broke in the latest release?

      To replicate:
      1. Create a standard table on a Confluence page.
      2. Insert an image inside a cell of this table.
      3. Export the page to PDF.

See the above screenshot of a page as viewed in Confluence. An image inserted inside a table cell is visible, as well as the one outside the table. The same image attachment was used.

When exported to PDF as seen in the above screenshot, the image inserted in the cell does not appear.

This is using the latest version of Confluence OnDemand.

This is still a bug, or a new bug, in 6.1.4. Same symptom as described by Karie Kelly on 30/Jan/15 - to get images to appear at all, and to appear correctly, I've resized them all by a pixel.

@Karie Kelly. Let's just say: it's a bug. Especially when image get lost in resulting PDF document.

Basically, unless you resize an image, even if by 1 pixel, if will appear huge/incorrectly proportioned in the PDF. Therefore, for every image (regardless of whether it is in a table cell or not), if it is the right size, increase or decrease by 1px and you'll be ok. Now, unless you write doc alot, most don't remember to do this and when someone exports the page, it doesn't look good at all. For every page I write or edit, on save, I test the pdf export (not a good use of time and most won't do this).

Fresh 5.6.4 installation doesn't export images being placed in a cell
Online version with images in cells: http://doc.ideco.ru/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=1278047
PDF-exported document without images in table cells: https://ideco.ru/assets/files/IdecoICS5_Admin_Guide_(RU).pdf (page 40) #update - now the file is fixed due to workaround, but i can send you a broken file if you need.

            Update:
Image in cell was rendered when i changed the size. It become ugly and stretched but rendered fine in PDF. This workaround was mentioned in related issue. Gonna try to find an appropriate size for the image and get a PDF with pretty images...

So the issue is about sizing images while exporting PDF. I hope it will help you to fix this issue.

We have upgraded to 5.6.4, and the problem with images not showing is still relevant (as well as CONF-34385 where images get wrong size). Two images are attached to show this.

I think, this one can be closed. I've just installed 5.6.1 and the point here is defenitely fixed. The open problem is tracked in another issue: CONF-34385.

This is also a critical issue for our documentation. Our customers and partners want PDF files.

Setting the image width is not a complete solution. I still have to test exporting the file to PDF multiple times until I find a width that allows each image to fit on the page. Huge waste of time.

This bug is "fixed" in 5.5.1... well the pictures are not invisible anymore... but are on full column size and the table is on full page size as before... so the pdf export is completely unuseable as before if you don't set the explizit width for every image in a table.
