When clicked on "Save" button, Confluence saves the page and returns to view mode. If anything goes wrong with the users device like a network error, proxy error or anything, users work faces the danger of being lost.
I think for save operations, instead of a browser postback confluence should use a callback in the background and not close editor if not successful. Just like automatic draft-saves do. This way users work is not lost in case of a network failure.
