    Description

If you create a page on Confluence 5.2.3 using a global template in which you used a list variable it will automatically populates the first option, no matter which option is chosen.

      Steps to reproduce:

      1. Go to Confluence Admin.
      2. Click i n Global Template.
      3. Add a New Global template.
      4. Add a $variable.
      5. Edit that variable and select List and add elements 1,2,3,4.
      6. Save it.
      7. Create a new page and select the template you recently created.
      8. In the Page Template Wizard, choose other elements besides 1 (2,4 in below image).
      9. Hit Next and Save.
      10. See that the list variable will show 1 (the first element), even after we selected 2 and 4.

You can also refer to Confluence Variables List Drop-Down Issue CSP-112293.mp4 file.

Note: If you use any other macros like the Info it will display normally.

      Workaround:

This behavior do not happens in Confluence 5.3.0, so upgrading will do the trick.
