When the users starts to enter text in the comment box in IE9, a line break is added to the beginning of the comment (see screenshot). This behaviour can only be reproduced in IE and not Firefox.
      It happens in our standalone installation and also in the latest version on confluence.atlassian.com.

            ok, see the attached GIF file. This was done in IE10 with IE9 Compat Mode but you can see the same behaviour in normal IE9.
            If you switch IE10 back to IE10 mode, it works fine.
