Currently confluence does not have function a proper export and import user created template.
There should be a way to export and import the template similar to how page export and import.
The current template import function only allow user to import the template that are installed from a plugin.

While this suggestion has gathered significant interest, we're unable to implement all of the excellent suggestions you make. We appreciate the benefits of such requests, but don't plan to work on this for the foreseeable future.
This suggestion will be reviewed in about 12 months time, at which point we’ll consider whether we need to alter its status.

[CONFSERVER-30778] Export and Import Confluence Template

For what I understand this bug is for export and import from the Jira Server, for Jira Cloud you can follow https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONFCLOUD-30778.
Since Jira server is not supported anymore this issue will never be worked on.
We migrated confluence server to cloud and lost all templates.
If there's no workaround to perform the data migration, it should be taken as a BUG leading to DATA LOSS.
Please solve the BUG.

Happy belated 8th birthday to this issue. Also happy 18 month birthday past the 12 month period in the last note in the issue when Atlassian said they would review this issue yet again.
And all of this not being considered issue for a function that used to be available via a plugin which was available prior to Confluence 6. I mean how much work could it possibly take if someone was able to independently make this function as a plugin at one point.

It would be of very high value if export/import of user defined templates is possible as while working on documentation on several projects across multiple tools.
We have templates for many types of documentation and have just migrated to cloud. I go to create new Confluence content from a template we use - and none of the templates are there. It makes me very sad. And costs money/time.
Just had to do this. And feature is not in production. Makes me sadder a tiny bit.
I agree - having to recreate templates manually in Cloud is a real pain.
Hi Atlassian Developer Team,
We need this feature to copy user-created templates alone to another Confluence space. It is only sensible to grant his functionality already without having to ask for it.
It should not be difficult to add this option ?
