Confluence Quick Reload Plugin Renders Confluence Unavailable

Quick Reload Plugin is causing thousands of request to Confluence.
We have seen this misbehavior when using specially Firefox 22 and 23, and we have spoken with our Dev and basically we suspect that this issue could be caused by javascript.

Steps to Reproduce
We were not able to reproduce this issue.

Workaround
Follow the instructions in high traffic to /rest/quickreload/ endpoint after upgrading to Confluence 5.

Notes
The quick reload plugin is still a known performance problem for large instances. The work done on this issue was to fix a timer that was malfunctioning, leading to 200+ requests a second being generated. It's still possible to experience a performance degradation as load from tabs generating quick reload requests build up over time (a few days).
