Environment:
Reproduced with both:
Firefox ESR 17.0.8
Internet Explorer 10.0.9200.16660
under Windows 7 SP1 64-bit
STEPS TO REPRO
- edit a page
- write some text
- go to a new line
- hit Ctrl+Shift+N to start a numbered list
- write the following
- bla bla
- bla bla bla bla bla bla
- use CTRL+I to start and stop (while typing) the italic text section on the second line and leave the cursor at the end of the second line
- hit backspace
EXPECTED BEHAVIOUR
The last "a" of the second line is deleted, the cursor stays after the "bl" of the last "bla" of the second line.
ACTUAL BEHAVIOUR
The cursor seems to jump in some way at the beginning of the second line, and hence the backspace deletes the "2." ahead of the second line. If you press again, you start to delete text on the first line. This is really annoying and confusing: when you type fast, the risk is to destroy parts of what you were writing and you have to do Ctrl+Z to undo and use the mouse to place back at the end of the second line, to repeat the deletion attempt.
NOTES
The problem does not occur if you use the underscore at the beginning and at the end of the italic section on the second line, instead of using CTRL+I.
