    • We collect Confluence feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

Would be great if there is a Autoformatic function in Pages and Comments for #Hastags. Like Twitter / Facebook hashtags.

@jira Team, This is a great feature for this product across Jira , JISM and Confluence. This will bring the power of search thru the content. Please do push this to your product management team.

Plus hashtags for tasks that can be filtered in task report.

My biggest need for this is due to the fact that labels doesn't support special characters, and Confluence being a tech repository for us, we would like to be able to use labels like "C++", "C#", ".NET" etc.

I would suggest to have search by #hashtags in JIRA too

+1 on this! like user mentions one could do "topic mentions" this way or mention customers who use a documented feature etc.

Another benefit for using hashtags is that we can group pages with cross-cutting concerns (i.e. aspect oriented documentation!?!)
Usually documentation ends up in a hierarchical structure of shorting, though the hierarchy does not make sense when you view the documentation from a different perspective.
Hashtags may enable grouping pages in various ways.
            An example:

            • Design team is writing Confluence pages that are describing the stories and user interfaces
            • Tech-writers are writing pages for what messages will get displayed on the user interfaces
            • Devs are writing pages to explain the expected behaviour behind the scenes
            • multiple issues are representing the work to be done (in JIRA)
            • Now linking all these pages together when we are working an issue will be a great thing. Find all pages that are for #version7 for #storyadduser and has to do with #jiralicense

Thanks Helmut, we've been thinking along the same lines... Not quite there yet but hope to do something around this soonish.

Well, modeled on the solution here: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-16223, whenever i use # the word behind it will be a label. The advantages for me:

            • Better Networking / Linking
            • grasp the labels by writing in a slip

Hi hstwegener, thanks for taking the time to raise this one. It's an interesting idea. How would you envisage this working?
