Steps to Reproduce:

1. Use Confluence 3.5.x
2. Access its "User Directories"
3. Integrate with Crowd or LDAP
4. Trigger the synchronization process
5. When the synchronization is completed, the page will refreshed itself
6. Use Confluence 5.0.1
7. Access its "User Directories"
8. Integrate with Crowd or LDAP
9. Trigger the synchronization process
10. When the synchronization is completed, the page will not refreshed itself

Expected Results:

Confluence should be able to refreshed the "User Directories" menu itself to show that the manually triggered synchronization is completed whether it is successful or not which was working fine on Confluence 3.5.x.
