The following article from Confluence knowledge base is talking about a way to improve the notify watcher feature of Confluence. Since any customization like this is not supportted by Atlassian, it would be nice if this improvemnet is implemented into the feature release of Confluence by default. Ideally, the Confluence admin should be able to turn on or off this by space.
