See screenshots. Users in the Confluence Internal Directory display correctly, whereas all external users display an error.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Import the attached XML backup to 5.0.1 (this is my live SRDL instance with email and the JIRA directory disabled, and no attachments)
2. Log in with admin:admin
3. View the People Directory and confirm that users display correctly.
4. Shut down Confluence 5.0.1
5. Unzip the 5.1beta2 installation.
6. Point confluence.cfg.xml to the home directory of the 5.0.1 instance
7. Start the 5.1beta2 instance and allow the upgrade to complete
8. View the People Directory and confirm the error occurs.
