toolbar menus don't work in opera

opera 12.12 on linux. toolbar dropdown menus (style, table, insert etc) only work as long as the mouse cursor is over the toolbar itself, it fails immediately when the cursor is over the editing area.

i'm aware of CONF-4636 and CONF-24311 , but they are closed and more generic - this issue is about a specific problem.

also, in CONF-4636 it was stated that "our stats tell us that roughly <1% of our customer base use Opera", which isn't very surprising if it doesn't really work

even in CONF-24311 john masson says "While I appreciate it is immensely frustrating to have to use another browser for specific tasks (as a long time Opera user up until a few years ago I had this problem quite often)", and i have personally spoken with several people who have to use another browser for confluence only.
