Description
Summary
When an attachment link in a page/blog is pointing to an attachment that has been deleted/renamed/missing, the link will appear broken or greyed out in the page as shown here (second and third link):
When one edits the page to correct the link or find out where was the link pointing to, the link properties panel doesn't appear:
Link properties panel appears correctly as shown in the following scenarios:
- When the attachment link is valid:
- When page link is pointing to a page that has been deleted or to a non-existent page:
Use Case
When one has a lot of missing/broken links due to various reasons (be it missing attachments, renamed, deleted, or due to some database encoding migration issue), it's very difficult to identify where was the link is pointing to and to correct the link to the right attachment/link.
Workaround
- Identifying
- View the storage format through Tools > View Storage Format, and figure out from there.
- Fixing the link
- Either by deleting the link, and recreate it from scratch. Or,
- Fix it through Confluence Source Editor plugin
