Resized images in Word docx are displayed in low quality and unreadable

Resized images in Word docx that are displayed using Viewfile macro are in low quality and unreadable

      Steps to reproduce

      1. Create a new page
      2. Attach resized.docx
      3. Insert a viewfile macro for Word and choose this attached file to be displayed
      4. Save the page

The image in resized.docx is not in original size. It is resized in Word and hence, the image is shown blurred. Try to compare with original.docx which contains unresized image and the result is expected (clear image).

The screenshot screenshot.png shows the difference between original (top) and resized (bottom) output of view file macro.

      Workaround
Either use an original/unresized image or convert the docx to doc file

        1. original.docx
          56 kB
        2. resized.docx
          56 kB
        3. screenshot.png
          screenshot.png
          130 kB

Given the thousands of other issues we have open that are more highly requested, we won't be able to address this issue in the foreseeable future. Instead we will focus on bugs with a higher impact, and more votes.

Thanks for taking the time to raise this issue. As you are no doubt aware this issue has been on our backlog for some time now with very little movement.

I'm going to close this to set expectations so the issue doesn't stay open for years with few updates. If demand for this picks up, we will reopen the issue.
