HTML macro does not display wiki content properly when html tags used

When using the html macro on a page with other wiki macros, preview will show the content of the page rendering correctly. When saving the page, if the html macro content contains

      <html><head></head><body>

tags, then the above behavior is observed. If those tags are removed, then the wiki macros/content and the html macro content are rendered properly.

Confluence should display/render both the preview and the saved copy of the page the same, which is not the case.

[CONFSERVER-25767] HTML macro does not display wiki content properly when html tags used

            Hi rgoodwin

Thanks for taking the time to raise this issue. This has been on our backlog now for 5 years with very little movement in that time. Rather than leaving this here I'm going to close it out as won't fix, I believe this better reflects the issue.

If the problem is raised again in the future we'll re-address it

            Regards
            Steve Haffenden

This behaviour occurs because we can't render HTML, HEAD or BODY tags, as we already have them. I am opening this ticket because the behaviour between preview and a saved page should be the same. If it's going to fail it should at least fail on preview, with a graceful error message.
