    • We collect Confluence feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

When a page is restricted, a user can still use the share page plugin to send it to another user. They may not realise that there are page or space restrictions, or they might assume that the contents of the page will be sent in full.

The user will receive an email about collaborating on the page, with a link to it. This will be useless as the restrictions prevent them from viewing the page.

We should give some sort of indication to the sender that the receiver will not be able to view the content.

[CONFSERVER-25471] Share Page plugin should handle page view restrictions

+1, this just happened to me and made me look silly. A warning when you submit with an option to give people permission would be awesome.

I agree that a strict filter in the auto-completion will confuse users trying to share pages instead of those who get page shares where they do not have access, so that might not be the right solution.

I would absolutely appreciate the check message for users trying to share content with another user without permission, that would be great!

Yes that is true. Groups are a challenge. The problem is that most of our users are not that aware of the permissions/restrictions matter yet. A check message is the first step which will provide a lot more than the current situation.

@Jordie I'm not sure if this is a good solution on its own. Users might ask: Why is "xyz" not available for sharing? How would you handle groups where a single user is restricted but all others are not?

I suggest a check message for the editor if he selects a user or group not be able to read the content, like "You're trying to share a page your recipients cannot access. Please check the page restrictions / space permission."

Anyway, this is still an annoying bug / missing feature which leads to many requests.

Same here: users who share pages with groups result in all group members receiving the email notification, even when they do not have permissions to view the page or even the space it's in. It would help a lot if the auto completion only displays users who have access like Victor says.

We are looking for any of the below improvements when a user is trying to access the content/attachment from a space, where they do not have permissions for.
            1. that User can see the attachment (regardless of access rights in Space)
            OR
            2. that User who shares the content from one space will receive a warning message, when inserting attachments from another space.

A good approach would be to filter out the users and groups which can't access the page from the autocompletion.

bumping up priority based on user feedback.
