Ubuntu Server 11.10, Sun JDK, likes plugin 4.2
Description
We have been translating Confluence 4.2 into Turkish. One of the problems we have encountered is in likes plugin. Some sentences are formed programatically using i18n words. The keys are
- likes.summary.word.and
- likes.summary.word.like
- likes.summary.word.likes
- likes.summary.word.others
- likes.summary.word.people
- likes.summary.word.the
- likes.summary.word.this
- likes.summary.word.you
- likes.summary.word.your
The sentence structure in Turkish is different than English. So when we translate the words the formed sentence becomes wrong. For example, in English you say "You like this", in Turkish we say, "You this like".
Forming sentences using words is not a good idea for multi-language application. It's better to have full sentences.
