HTML Export - Anchor linking to anchors within same page broken

      We are experiencing when doing the following:

      1. Insert -> Other Macros -> Anchor -> Enter "exampleAnchor"
      (For testing purposes place further down page after what is visible on 1 page)
      2. Link -> "#exampleAnchor"

      Once saved if you inspect the link on the confluence page it is correct in being:
      href="#exampleAnchor
      And clicking on the link will jump to the anchor

      The following is where we see the issue
      1. Browse -> Advanced -> HTML Export
      2. Download and Explode the zip
      3. Go to the example page above
      4. href is incorrect, will be something like:
      href="page.html#"
      5. Click on the link will not jump to the anchor as expected as it is missing the anchor ref name.

      Here is an example I've created in the confluence sandbox:
      http://sandbox.onconfluence.com/display/MAR/Test
      I'm observed the same issue above when doing a HTML Export via Browse -> Advanced -> HTML Export.

      ----------------------------------

      Before upgrading to Confluence 4 this functionality previously worked in Confluence 3.5

      We have inpected the resulting HTML and it looks like the href attribute of the anchors do not have the anchor name appended after the # character

      <a href="page.html#">Link To Section One</a>
      ...
      ...
      ...
      <a name="sectionOne">Section One</a>

      The href value should be "page.html#sectionOne"

      Please advise if more detail is required

            Hi,
            This issue is displaying that it is fixed yet people are reporting it still broken in 5.7.3. And nobody is commenting from Atlassian?
            Is this issue fixed and in what version? I have a much older version than those stated at the top of this thread however, it appears it is still an issue in 5.7.3
            Regards,
            Jerry

            Hello, I am glad to see this bug has been fixed. When can we expect a release without this bug?

            I assume the 5.6.3 currently downloadable here (https://www.atlassian.com/software/confluence/download) still has the bug.

            Hi pkidson

            I suspect that this issue would have been introduced around 4.0. The oldest known version to have this issue is 4.1.5. I should point out that neither of these confluence versions are supported any longer and I would not recommend downgrading to them.

            Hi @shaffenden ,
            I appreciate that you took the time to tell us that you will not address this soon. However, I feel the urge to say a few words to that.

            I do not consider this as being a feature but a kernel functionality. I find it a bit embarrassing that this bug even exists. I do also not feel that this bug should be classified as "Minor".

            You say that other things have a higher priority. Well, I have to say, after being an intensive Atlassian product user for the last four years I never understood how you guys rather spend time on less important and less useful features than fixing plain bugs first. May I refer here to the hilarious idea to force rounded logos onto the community. The time and money that is still wasted for that endeavor is extraordinary. Kind of selling a car that leaks oil but the whole production force concentrates on desiging a square steering wheel.

            I know I am exeggarting here and that there is much more to the selection of features and bugfixes for a release. I am just saying that I don't undertstand your strategy. My experience with Atlassian is also that we, your customers, can vote and comment as much as we like - it just does not seem to have any effect. Note, that this bug was reported two and a half years ago.

            Anyways, I hope you will put out this fix quickly. A fix, that I assume is not too difficult to implement either.

            I have discovered that Confluence 3.1.1 does NOT have this bug.

            Steve : could you please let us know asap what the LAST version that did NOT have this bug was? Thanks.

            Hi pkidson and rajendra1

            I appreciate that this issue is important to you both and to everyone else that has commented and voted on this ticket. I'm painfully aware that we do need to address this. However, as it stands right now there are higher priority issues that take precedence. Unfortunately it's very hard to estimate when we might be able to address this as the issues that we have to address are constantly changing.

            I would like to ensure your that we do want to address this issue and we will address this as soon as we can.

            I apologies that I'm unable to provide you with more solid information.

            I am bewildered at the way this critical bug is treated by Atlassian. It is a fundamental expectation from a HTML page that anchors(and links) in it should work. That has been missing from Confluence for long time. This bug is filed two and half years back and still it is in the list of issues to be fixed. Very sad.
