Excerpts of formatted text are forced onto a new line

To reproduce:

1. Add a line of text
2. Add an excerpt macro, enter another line of text in this. Click on the macro and select "In Line"
3. Add another line of text after the excerpt

Content will appear as one line with the excerpt in the middle.

Doing the same procedure but to stylised text ie. headings, monospace, quotes, etc forces each line despite selecting "In Line".
