In certain cases (for aesthetic reasons) it would be nice if you could specify for wide tables (i.e. wider than the browser width) to scroll horizontally rather than have the table resize to fit the browser (and wrapping the cell contents).

The application here would be for wide, spreadsheet-like tables where, presentation wise, the table looks much better if there remains consistent spacing among rows (e.g. one line per row).

This would require an option to NOT dynamically resize the table, but rather add a horizontal scroll-bar on tables wider than the browser width.

[CONFSERVER-23145] Horizontal scroll option for tables

This appears to still be a problem. I don't think there's a way to make the table wider than the browser window, with a horizontal scrollbar provided to see the whole thing. Am I mistaken?

Why on earth was this "fixed" with no votes?

We are just upgrading to 4 and getting extensive negative feedback.

Any page with a long wide table now appears to have the off-to-the-right table text unreadable.

The poor reader has to learn to scroll all the way to the bottom of the table to be able to scroll it to the right, and then, probably, back up the page to see what he/she was looking for.

            A very poor "fix" this.
What should have happened, is that this feature be made an option at the table, or page, level.

            Hi Mike,
Thanks for raising this feature request. I thought I'd let you know we've just implemented this! . This should be resolved in our upcoming Confluence 4.0 Release. You can learn more about the release here. Stay tuned.

I should also say, this isn't an option. If the table is oversized for the layout it will automatically show horizontal scrollbars.
