• We collect Confluence feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

This is not referring to the tasklist macro but the possibility of introducing tasks as a first-class citizen in Confluence. See suggestion from Tim below:

Suggestion: Action Item overview (tasklist item overview) in dashboard
The idea is to have an additional tab in the dashboard of each of our employees, where either:

      • all action items
      • only action items of a particular space
created via dynamic tasklist are summarized and shown

The action items should be shown in a table (searchable, filterable/hideable and sortable).
      Table-Fields:

      • status
      • Priority
      • additional responsibles (besides me),
      • when created
      • deadline
      • topic (maybe via the name of the sub-page and dirct link to it)

Benefit: I as a user do not have to search for all my action items on 1mio wiki pages, but have them all in one table (searchable, filterable and sortable).

            Hi Everyone,
In the upcoming Confluence 4.3 release, we introduce tasks in Confluence. This feature request raised is very comprehensive, and it certainly doesn't resolve all the requests on this issue, but does resolve the bulk of the basic feature. 4.3 is currently in our Early Access Program: http://atlss.in/conf43 if you want to try it out and give us feedback that would be great.

            What the feature has:

            • Ability to create tasks in a Confluence page
            • Ability to @mention to assign a user a task
            • Ability to mark tasks as complete from the page
            • Your personal tasklist view of all your assigned tasks in Confluence
            • Ability to mark tasks as complete from your tasklist
            • Ability to view, add and delete tasks on your mobile device

Checkout the Confluence 4.3 EAP to learn more. We are hoping to have 4.3 final in the coming couple of months.

This feature would be very useful to us as well
We use jira also, but only for it projects
Confluence is used by colleagues from all the departments, so tasks management and planning would be great
to cover the entire project life cycle from idea to production

            Thank you,
            Silvana

We are relatively new to Confluence. I've been evaluating it for a few months and we are going live now. I found that TaskDock did what I wanted, but that is not available anymore. I turned to Ad hoc workflows the last week, and although it has interesting features, no one here likes the way it works. It is easy enough to add tasks etc, but most other things are quite unintuitive.

I am really disappointed to have to move back to outlook. It would help so much to have the activities built into Confluence.

For us to consider the current tasklist macro, we need more functionality, in order of priority:

            • my tasks are listed on the dashboard
            • send questions to the person that assigned a task to me (effectively assigning the task to the original assigner)
            • locking of tasks to assignees (and the assigner), i.e. no one else except administrators can edit the task
            • there is a macro to create a summary tasklist on any page that collects tasks for any or named user from all pages below
            • the tasklist can be shrunk not to occupy so much space on a page
            • assign a task to one or several people (as a group or individual)

            /Anders

Thanks, Tim. Fair suggestion. I'm going to leave this issue as open to get more feedback from other users. I've also renamed the issue to be a bit more general - "Tasks in Confluence".

            Hello Sherif,

yes we also do use Jira for our Scrum Planning. but the integration of Jira to wiki is not my intent.
The scenario is as following. our complete department writes their meeting minutes in one particular section (in sub-pages) using the new tasklist-macro (which is also editable within the markup).
Since the macro allows to assign a responsible , it should be easy to show all action items for one person in their dashboard. Maybe on the dashboard the action items are categorized based on where they are coming from (section in the wiki) or this information is just a attribute of a table (filterable).

            Does this answer your question?
if you want I could also create a quick mockup. Just send me your email adress to t.gast@sap.com

            thanks

            Hi Tim,
Thanks for the interesting request. Does your team use JIRA as well? Would you have tasks form there that you want to track?
Could you give me some examples of types of tasks you are thinking of?
