Warn users when Compatibility View is enabled in IE8

      NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

      See attached screenshots. Switching off compatibility view resolves the problem.

      NOTE: Compatibility View can be enabled for intranet sites without being switched on globally. You can check this via Tools > Compatibility View Settings

            Resolving as Timed Out, as it does not appear that this issue is affecting users in modern Confluence or IE versions.

            Hi,
            Just to add on, since the issue reported https://support.atlassian.com/browse/CSP-65609 with thumbnails not working in 3.5 (IE Compability mode) use to work fine in 3.4 (IE Compability mode) it looks more like an issue to the end user for whome the thumbnail use to work fine with 3.4 but after upgrade it has stopped working

            In https://support.atlassian.com/browse/CSP-65609 Cisco also complains of issues when running in IE8 Compatibility mode.

            I'm adding this as a vote to explicitly warn users that Compatibility mode is not supported.

            We fully support IE8 in normal mode with Confluence 3.5, so we won't be putting fixes in for compatibility mode.

            However, we could add a banner to warn users that Confluence won't work well in compatibility mode and that they should switch it off. I'll update this issue to reflect that improvement request instead.
