any space / pagetree watched by hundreds of users
when an area is being watched by plenty of users (in or case ~600) saving a page and thus sending the notifications takes several minutes - confluence probably scrolls through the watch list and sends email one by one prior to saving the page.
possible solution: allow watching to groups or leave email notification as the final step of changing content and thus run in in the background.
