NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server and Data Center. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.
Problem Definition
By design, when copying a single page, its restrictions will not be copied automatically. Hence, if the page contains information that should be private, user would need to remember to reapply restrictions in the editor before publishing the page, to avoid notifying people who are watching the space (as the copied page will be unrestricted).
Suggested Solution
To copy page restrictions together automatically when copying a Confluence page.
There are various complicating factors to consider:
- What if the user copying the page doesn't have "restrict page" permission? Are the restrictions removed on the new page in that case? Should the user be warned somehow?
- What if the user copying the page doesn't have permissions to edit the original page? I would expect them to have them included in the restrictions automatically.
