User profile picture doesn't properly resize

      When uploading a profile picture the instructions say that the image will be resized to 48x48, which is just what we want. But after browsing for an image and selecting a larger one I am presented with a neat version of my uploaded image with a resizeable crop box. If I expand the crop box to include the whole image, the resulting image is just a section of the original, not a 48x48 resized and cropped version from what's in the crop box.
