Ability to notify a group when a page blog or space is changed (group watches)

      It would be good if you could assign a group to be notified when a page or space is changed.

      This was original wrapped up as part of -CONF-3703-, but split out because we implemented the more "assign page watches" part of that issue first.

      Hi all,

      Thank you for providing your feedback on this suggestion.

      Unfortunately, we have no plans to implement this suggestion for pages or spaces (see my final paragraph for blogs). As a result, we're closing this request.

      Based on customer feedback, we’ve worked hard to reduce the amount of email notifications end-users receive. We’re concerned that implementing a group watchers feature has the potential to undo these past improvements.

      In enabling group watchers, users added as watchers of a page or space via this functionality would be unable to remove themselves. This has the potential to create a greater level of frustration for some users compared to the benefits this feature might bring.

      As I’m sure many of you are aware, there are multiple workarounds available to address this issue:

      We do however see potential future value in allowing group watchers for blogs. Unless a specific blog post is being watched, blog notifications will only trigger when a blog is created, so can be invaluable for sharing information with a large audience. If you're interested in managing group and individual watchers for blogs, please vote on CONFSERVER-24353, or the related CONFSERVER-30644.

            I came here looking for this feature also, sad to see it is closed as WONT DO. I think analysis is not valid on why it is not something to consider.

            My use case is this: I have a Confluence space with standards and procedures that is read only for all except the persons in charge of defining the standards. I want to notify everybody when a change is made to a standard.

            Without this, I have to do it manually.

            I need this to be done, now i've more than 20 users to be added in the watcher list on each page.

            Or else suggest me any way to let watcher list inherits from parent page.

            YET ANOTHER braindead non-decision from Atlassian.

            If it's work, if it takes time to implement, they won't add it.

            If it overlaps functionality available at an additional price? They won't add it.

            Is it an excellent suggestion that adds value to their product? Well, let's be serious here. That's not a consideration in their workflow. Atlassian doesn't care about their customers once they have their money.
