livesearch macro doesn't work properly on IE6 , IE7 and IE8

The search string for livesearch macro is ignored in IE using livesearch macro. The URL produced using livesearch is:

http://confluence.atlassian.com/dosearchsite.action?s=hello&quickSearch=true&where=&queryString=

This can be replicated on the official site: http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Livesearch+Macro

However dynamic search results do appear prior to pushing enter. Also, users can navigate the dynamic search results.

This behaviour can not be reproduced in Firefox.

Steps to reproduce:
To reproduce this bug, open ie 6, 7 or 8
Create a page with the livesearch macro or navigate to this link in the documentation:
http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Livesearch+Macro

Type in a search term that will produce a known result and use the mouse to click "go"

Choosing a search result from the menu will not reproduce the bug.

The result is a page with an empty search box.
