Showing attached images in autocomplete occasionally times out, and is overall slow compared to the other operations

I am assuming that the REST service is slow. it takes 3 to 4s on eac, while all the other service calls take 1s or so.

I occasionally get the timeout box (which, incidentally, looks broken too)
