ReverseDatabinder combines a whole bunch of different things – XML parsing, backup parsing, Hibernate voodoo, upgrade logic – in a single class and a couple of badly factored helper classes. This is very resistant to modification and improvement. Replacing it with code that separates these concerns should lead to more stable and flexible restore code over time.
