Flash content (and other embedded objects) overlaps menu content

    • Icon: Bug Bug

    • Icon: Medium Medium
    • 5.8
    • 2.8, 3.5
    • None
    • Internet Explorer 6, Firefox 3, IE10, IE8

On pages with embedded objects eg. ppt, the object is displayed at the highest level of the page.

This became an issue at following points:

      • (minimal) menu items are displayed behind the object
      • (heavily) interactive boxes eg. set status are hidden behind the object and you can't fill in ore even close it

      This is tested with
      FF 3.0.15
      IE 6.0
      and Confluence 3.0.0_1

The examples attached are captchured with rezising to a small window, but if for example using a navigation tree this issue is rased more often even using a high resolution.

[CONFSERVER-17476] Flash content (and other embedded objects) overlaps menu content

I could not reproduce this issue on Confluence 5.8, using Chrome, Firefox, or IE11, and this link: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Confluence+5.2+Release+Notes (if you are a logged in Atlassian user, you can expand the '...' menu and it previously showed underneath the embedded video). Closing as obsolete.

Still experience this on Chrome 41, Confluence version 5.4.2.
Our specific case is the link popup (press 'k' on a page) appears completely behind an .mp4 embedded in a multimedia macro.

We are still experiencing this issue in IE10 and Confluence 5.5.3. In Chrome it's ok! See [^flash-issue.png]

@Stefan Ernst: I'm not sure if it's fixed. In Confluence 5.1.6, this issue persist with Visio plugin.

This issue was indeed fixed in 5.1 - someone should update this issue accordingly

I agree however that issues regarding IE compatibility or Office integration don't get enough attention

I also told Atlassian and our consultant a few times that the upgrade frequency (new features) is too quick. We cannot train our employees every two months in new features. In my personal opinion Atlassian should more focus on bug fixes than releasing new features. But that is just my personal opinion. Others may be glad about the innovative and speedy upgrades. This issue is a good example why I have this opinion.

I doubt, that there will be any more fixes for the 4.3.x branch, except for major security issues. The upgrade path is 5.1.x. Atlassian moves fast and personally like that, but as a company we have trouble keeping up the pace.

This issue was reported on 04.11.2009 for the first time and it is not even assigned to an Atlassian employee.

Atlassian should fix those things quicker. The longer a problem exists the more customers get affected.
I was classified "major". How high does a problem has to be classified to get fixed...

It is still a problem in 4.3.7 which we just updated to. I was told today by support that it is fixed in 5.1.

One of our clients reported this issue too. We tested this in IE10 and Chrome 25: it only happens in IE10. Voted for the ticket and hope that Atlassian will try and find a fix for this issue.

This may seem trivial to any experienced Confluence user, but we do get quite a lot of calls from users asking why the drop-down menue disappears and how to navigate within the wiki now.
