Description
In confluence 3.0.1 "height:1%" css hack was added at minimum to these files:
- conf-webapp/src/main/webapp/includes/css/master-ie.css
- conf-webapp/src/main/webapp/includes/css/comments-ie.css
I suppose that this change was made to solve some IE specific issue, but unfortunately this hack, makes it really easy to break the layout by making small customizations to the html or css.
Our css gurus suggested to replace "height:1%" with "zoom:1", which in IE has the same effect, except for adding new headaches and problems.
This blogpost explains the background for zoom:1 hack: http://www.bennadel.com/blog/1354-The-Power-Of-ZOOM-Fixing-CSS-Issues-In-Internet-Explorer.htm
When I made the changes in our build, our problems have disappeared and as far as I can tell no new issues were introduced.
