I ran the new Page Speed performance tool from Google on my local Confluence 3 evaluation site and it found several high priority issues that are affecting page performance. See the attached image for the overview.

      Among the issues found:

      • 44 resources should be gzipped
      • 27 JS files should be combined
      • 400k of the Javascript files needs to be minimized
      • incorrect CSS/JS position is resulting in unnecessary serial rendering issues
      • numerous inefficient CSS selectors are slowing rendering time

I'd like to make a case for an upgrade to Confluence 3 from our major Confluence 2 installation at my company, and would prefer to demonstrate as much performance gain as possible in Confluence 3. If you fix these issues you should see significant page performance improvements.
