Take TOC for example. There is a known bug for this (http://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-10619). While we can't solve the bug right now, it should be easy to add a sentence to the descriptions of these macros. For TOC it could read "The TOC displays the table of content for the current page. Note: The preview uses the last saved page-version, not the current content"

Agnes, if you agree this could help, then I guess Giles should be given a list of known macros and he should try to come up with some textual proposals.
